Head of Engineering

Salary Range: $180K - $220K + Early-stage equity

About the role:

As Head of Engineering, you'll lead our software and machine learning teams in building the technology that makes Pync's mission possible. You'll guide and grow our mobile, backend, and AI/ML teams while working closely alongside product, hardware, and firmware. You'll play a significant role in shipping our products and shaping our technical and team direction.

This role is perfect for an experienced engineering leader who cares deeply about team growth, and who wants to build intelligent products that genuinely improve lives — for pets and their humans.

Responsibilities:

• Lead engineering teams across mobile, backend, and AI/ML
• Drive product delivery — balancing shipping velocity, quality, and long-term architecture
• Provide architectural guidance, conduct code reviews, and mentor engineers
• Define engineering goals and facilitate sprints
• Collaborate closely with hardware, firmware, and product to ship cohesive full-stack products
• Shape technical and product direction — identifying where to invest and what to build next
  

We’re looking for:

• Loves pets and animals, and wants to help shape the future of pet care together with the team at Pync
• 8+ years in software engineering or ML, with experience leading cross-functional teams
• Proven track record in shipping consumer-facing products and AI features
• Strong breadth across mobile, backend, and ML systems
• Equally comfortable with system architecture and hands-on coding
• Thrives in fast-moving environments with high ownership
